Alys Travayn
Alys grew up in the most prestigious college in the world; moreover, she was the most intensely focused and driven student the school had enrolled within its grand halls in recent memory. She excelled at her studies to such a degree that her education was entrusted to High Scholar Morbius, one of the university's most recognized academics. Throughout her studies, the knowledge of the unknown and forbidden had always intrigued her, and even when she was restricted from doing so, she constantly found herself sneaking peeks into the dangerous knowledge that was secreted away, open only to the highest ranking scholars. Alys believed that knowledge was simply a tool to be used; dark and forbidden information was only dangerous to those who would use it as such, and thus, her interest was no threat. Most would call her naïve, but she dismissed that opinion as ignorant, believing that restricting knowledge only served to hold people back. Stubborn and unrelenting, she was eventually allowed access to the school's restricted knowledge, with reasonable oversight by High Scholar Morbius. This allowed the exceptionally bright woman to discover something previously unknown, a hidden cache of secret information buried within an old crypt. Alongside her mentor, Alys delved into the hoard, and discovered much more than she expected. Within this crypt lay an ancient artifact tied to the worship of an old god. The god was unknown to her, and she strived to unlock the secrets the relic held. She drove forward recklessly, relentlessly, and in doing so released a force she was direly underprepared for. Held within the artifact was a servant of the mysterious old world god, a creature of shadow and corruption. The fiend ripped itself into the world in a wave of destruction that slew Alys' mentor and left its cold mark on her. From that day forward, Alys has been striving to gain control of the strange corruption that threatens take hold of her, working to rid the land of a curse of her own making.

Alys is a character who has had several iterations. This first drawing is the character at her youngest, before she set forth into the crypt.
This next series is various versions of the character, drawn at different times and with different intents in the work. I've tried different outfits and the curse mark is different on each of them as well. Think of these as concepts that I have taken a step further but are still not the finished work.
This final design incorporates ideas from the others as well as a more practiced approach to the pose and design as a whole.
